oh man....it's psychological warfare and it's me against myself! and i don't know who to root for! everything was going just fine on spiritual guide Mindy's scarf. i got the materials lined up. got the design drawn out. i even managed to dye everything in perfect mindyesque blues, no warm blues, not too much green, plenty of grey-blue and most of all her favorite peacock blue. sweet! then what do i do? i start thinking. well...i don't even know if it was me. it was either my inner yellow taking over in a jealous fit about the use of cool blues or else it's someone or something in mindy's mindyverse with their own agenda. i am starting to think that there is maybe more than just me working on this. there are spirits around getting involved in my dying. i don't even believe in spirits. but for not existing they are starting to be a nuisance!
so here's what happened. all was well with the dying. then i started to look over my reeled silk. yes....that's right. my very very special reeled silk in perfect foam white that came from a fiber museum and i can't get anymore anywhere. it's perfect sheen. it's perfect loops. the keystone of this design. something possessed me and it wasn't the beer. something whispered from nowhere: dye it pale blue! i was like- what!!?? am i thinking of dying this? no way. dye it pale bluuuuue! dye it now! and i just took the entire pile and plopped it into the pot of water left over from dying the main fiber. it was slightly blue. it totally dyed the reeled silk blue. instantly i was horrified. what have i done!! fuck! i took it out immediately and my heart sank. it's not crashing foamy waves. it's blue foam. it's laundry foam now. maybe mindy would like an inner laundromat? clean up those thoughts? lose some spiritual socks?
get a grip! i can fix this i thought. so i filled a pot with water put in a little bleach. this silk has been bleached before i'm sure. i'll bleach it again. so i put it in and let it sit a couple hours. when i came back it was not blue anymore but it still looked a little dingy, slightly yellow. oh no no no...mindy explicitly said no yellow. yellow makes her want to barf and we can't have that. so i dumped in some more bleach. i went away and came back the next morning to a pot filled with bright american-mustard yellow silk. holy crap sandwich!!!!!! what the hell is going on around here!? this is the EXACT yellow color that me and mindy discussed NOT having for a half and hour! there were some yellows that maybe would be bearable, but not this one. no this is the most evil of all the yellows for mindy! and i knew what it was right away....it was my inner yellow. i love this yellow. but right now it is stalker yellow. and i have to dump it. i am going to call on all the cool blue beasts of the open sea to come and rip this yellow menace from my midst! in the meantime....i need some new foam. the search begins for a replacement to the fantastic reeled silk. this is truly a battle of the spirit......
perfect ocean colors! will card this into a batt:
